Data Integration Engineer

We seek a Lead Data Integration Engineer/Architect with extensive experience in data engineering and a solid background in legacy technologies such as Java. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record working on large, complex trading systems, ideally within investment banking environments.

Position: Lead Data Integration Engineer/Architect
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent (4 days per week in office, West End, London)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced data abstraction layers to integrate legacy trading systems (WPF, Oracle, Java) with a modern AWS-based data and analytics stack.
  • Lead a team of engineers and data scientists to drive the transformation of our client’s data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Ensure data consistency, validity, traceability, and accessibility for data scientists and analysts.
  • Utilise applied mathematics and inference techniques to decipher and understand undocumented databases and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in enterprise-scale data engineering and managing large databases.
  • Expertise in legacy systems integration with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and Python and familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with ORM systems, SOAP APIs, data modelling, ETL processes, and data governance.
  • Prior experience in commodities trading or financial markets is essential.
