I am working with a leading commodity trading company that is seeking a skilled and experienced Azure Platform Engineer to join their dynamic infrastructure team.

The role involves managing and optimising private Azure environments, with a focus on secure networking practices, endpoints, and Azure PaaS services. You’ll collaborate closely with various teams, including infrastructure, development, front office, and innovation, to deliver high-performance, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement, and maintain private Azure environments with private endpoints, virtual networks, and secure communications between services.
  • Manage a range of Azure PaaS services, such as:
  • Storage: Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files, Azure Disk Storage.
  • Networking: Azure Virtual Network, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall, Palo Alto NGF.
  • Security: Azure Key Vault, Azure Security Centre, Azure Active Directory, Azure Policy, RBAC, Network Security Groups (NSGs).
  • Computer & Hosting: Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, Azure Functions.
  • Monitoring & Cost Management: Azure Monitor, Azure Cost Management, Azure Log Analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, and scale infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Use version control tools like Git to ensure consistency and control across environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Azure platform issues across various teams.
  • Continuously monitor and optimise platform performance and costs.
  • Implement best practices for scalability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Ensure the environment adheres to regulatory standards such as GDPR and DORA.
  • Implement robust security controls using Azure Policy and Azure Security Centre.
  • Work closely with development, front office, and innovation teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
  • Act as an Azure subject matter expert (SME), advising on architecture, deployment, and optimisation.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience managing private Azure environments, with strong knowledge of private endpoints, virtual networks, and ExpressRoute.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Solid experience building CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Expertise in Azure PaaS services, including storage, networking, compute, and hosting.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, including GDPR and DORA.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Octopus Deploy.
  • Experience with Citrix Cloud, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMware, and Linux (RedHat).
