Technical Lead

A leading global energy trading firm is expanding its Front Office Engineering & Analytics function in London. This group builds the core technology that powers front office analytics, risk systems, and data-driven trading strategies across European Power & Gas, Oil, and Market Risk.
The team is scaling rapidly following a major realignment of the firm’s global technology organisation. With new leadership and a clear strategic mandate, London is becoming a key hub for engineering talent supporting front office functions globally.
You’ll join an ambitious and technically strong engineering group responsible for the firm’s next-generation analytics platform – a cloud-native ecosystem built entirely on AWS, used across trading, risk, and analytics teams worldwide.
These are hands-on engineering roles, not BAU or integration posts. The focus is on building and scaling high-performance systems, data pipelines, and applications for traders and analysts.

  • Partner with analysts to design statistical models and workflows
  • Contribute to architectural design for scalable analytics systems
  • Manage deployment and operationalisation of analytics workloads (AWS S3, ECS, Postgres)
  • Champion engineering best practices, including version control (Git) and CI/CD

Requirements

  • 3-7 years’ experience in data or software engineering
  • Strong programming skills in Python (Java or C# a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, ECS, Postgres)
  • Understanding of Kafka, orchestration, and distributed data systems
  • Experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial analytics preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset
  • A true builder’s mindset – curious, hands-on, and collaborative
