Our client, a global commodity trading company, are seeking a dynamic individual to lead their Technology Governance Office, reporting directly to the CIO. This position involves guiding a small team and steering key initiatives such as IT strategic direction, financial oversight, risk management, audits, and ensuring the stability of their operations.

What you’ll do:

• Technology Strategy: Formulate and drive long-term technological roadmaps that align with the company’s objectives.
• Financial Oversight: Manage the technology budget, optimising resource distribution and maintaining cost efficiency.
• Risk Management & Controls: Oversee IT risk management, daily governance, and operational risk backlogs, ensuring strong internal controls are in place.
• Audit Management: Lead both internal and external IT audit activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Manage vendor relationships, streamline vendor management practices, and lead contract negotiations and service meetings.
• Operational Continuity: Design and uphold frameworks that ensure the continuity and robustness of IT operations.
• Project Management & Strategic Planning: Manage project oversight and resource planning, including the 2025 IT budget.

This role is also responsible for adhering to the Conduct Rules as defined in the Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR).

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in consulting or project management, preferably with exposure to governance or financial services (Big 4 experience is a plus but not essential).
• Strong expertise in IT risk management, control structures, auditing, and long-term strategic planning.
• Proven ability to collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams, with strong commercial acumen.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated success in managing teams and building reporting structures.
• A solid understanding of operational resilience, audit, risk, and vendor management is required.
• Must be capable of engaging with senior stakeholders and acting as a business-facing leader within the technology function.
