Cititec is working with a European Power Trading business within one of Europe’s largest utilities. This role will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the power trading desk, leading an experienced trading team, and driving commercial performance across European wholesale power markets. You will shape strategy across an evolving portfolio that includes traditional power trading, batteries, PPAs and flexibility markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the European Power Trading desk across multiple wholesale power markets.
• Define and execute trading strategies across cross-border European markets.
• Take ownership of desk performance, P&L and risk management.
• Lead, mentor and develop an established team of power traders.
• Work closely with market risk, quantitative analytics and commercial teams to optimise trading performance.
• Drive the continued development of trading strategies as the business expands into batteries, flexibility products and PPAs.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across trading, origination, optimisation and senior leadership.
• Identify new commercial opportunities and contribute to the wider trading strategy of the business.

Requirements

• Extensive experience trading European power markets.
• Proven leadership experience managing a power trading desk or senior trading team.
• Strong understanding of cross-border European power markets and wholesale trading.
• Experience managing P&L through a range of market conditions.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with credibility across front office, market risk and senior management.
• Knowledge of batteries, flexibility markets and/or PPAs would be highly advantageous.
• Experience operating within integrated utility or commodity trading environments is preferred.
