Murex Software Engineer

Senior Murex Software Engineer | £800 per day (Inside IR35) | London| 6-Month Contract

Our client, a global banking organisation, is seeking a Senior Murex Software Engineer to support a major transformation programme implementing a Front-to-Back-to-Risk (FtBtR) trade processing platform using Murex MX.3.
You will work closely with Treasury, Product Control, Risk teams, architects, and business analysts to design and implement scalable, maintainable solutions as part of an Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Treasury, Product Control, and Risk teams to gather interface connectivity requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design and develop integrations between Murex MX.3 and external systems.
  • Develop and maintain Python or Shell scripts to support data transformation and connectivity.
  • Configure and develop Murex workflows and Datamart components where required.
  • Perform unit testing and prepare releases for RAT, CDR, and AT testing cycles.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, and other IT teams to ensure optimal technical solutions.
  • Work with Test Analysts to design and execute relevant interface tests.
  • Maintain code and configuration using Git and established branching strategies.
  • Contribute to DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, design documents, and datamaps.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to other developers within the team.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with Murex MX.3, including system architecture and core modules.
  • Expert knowledge of Murex MxML formats for business objects.
  • Experience with Murex transaction representations (Package, Contract, Component).
  • Knowledge of Murex business objects such as generators, curves, bonds, and spots.
  • Strong programming experience in Python or Shell scripting (ideally both).
  • Solid Oracle database and SQL development experience.
  • Experience configuring Murex workflows.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Experience working with REST APIs.
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong understanding of financial market instruments, P&L, and risk management processes.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Murex Datamart reporting and batch processing development.
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets and Treasury front-office trade capture and reporting.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA or TFS.
  • Exposure to AWS cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with MSL, OSP, and lookup tables within Murex.
