Data Analyst – Commodity Trading – London – 3 days a week in Office – Permanent
A dynamic and fast-paced commodities trading firm, based in the heart of London, is currently seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our cutting-edge Technology and Quantitative Function. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our trading and development teams, ensuring the seamless delivery of crucial analytics and data pipelines that drive strategic decisions and maintain our competitive edge in the market.
Role Scope:
- Collaborate closely with front office teams, including traders and analysts, to comprehensively understand their data analysis needs and requirements.
- Convey complex analytics requirements clearly and effectively to the development team, facilitating the creation of advanced data pipelines and tools.
- Engage in the full lifecycle of data analytics, from initial gathering and processing of data to in-depth analysis and presentation of insights.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analytical models and data sources, implementing quality control measures and validation processes.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of data practices, contributing innovative ideas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends, using this knowledge to inform data analysis and contribute to strategic planning.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a data analysis role, ideally within a commodities trading or financial services environment.
- Strong academic background
- Proficient in SQL and Python
- Demonstrated experience working with front office teams
- Excellent communication skills
- A proactive and analytical mindset
