Infrastructure/Data Centre Engineer – 3 months contract (renewable) – Banking – 350£/d inside IR35 – Hybrid – Wakefield
Our client’s EMEA division is seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure/Data Centre Engineer. In this role, you will be an essential part of our global bank’s test lab environment, providing crucial support. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure the smooth operation of our testing infrastructure while contributing to the development of cutting-edge financial solutions.
Please note that this position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring candidates to be physically present at the Wakefield site a minimum of three times per week.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, set up, and maintain hardware, software, and networking components within the test lab environment, ensuring systems are up-to-date, properly configured, and available for testing.
- Swiftly diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize downtime. Collaborate with vendors for necessary repairs and replacements, ensuring minimal disruption to testing activities.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining network connectivity within the lab setup. Troubleshoot network-related challenges and optimize network performance for seamless testing operations.
- Provide support to software developers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders during test setup, execution, and analysis phases.
- Adhere to security protocols and best practices to uphold data security and compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
- Identify opportunities to optimize processes, enhance tools, and upgrade systems to improve the overall efficiency of the test lab environment.
- Offer timely technical support to team members for lab-related inquiries, troubleshooting, and issues.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Additional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA are advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing and supporting lab environments, preferably within the financial or banking sector.
- Solid understanding of hardware, software, and networking components.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
